What is Sintered Stone?

The concept of sintered stone originated in Spain and developed widely in furniture and home decoration industry in the recent years. As a stone-based material, sintered stone is different from Quartz and ceramics. It is made from natural quartz or stone powder and formed into a solid slab after fusing and compressing in extremely high temperature and pressure. There are various levels of thickness of the sintered stone: 6mm; 9mm; 11mm; 12mm; 15mm; 20mm.

Sintered stone is used widely in furniture, especially kitchen and dining tabletop, because it is easy to clean, eco-friendly, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, corrosion-resistant. Since the pattern of the tabletop can be customized, people tend to opt for it for their beloved home. Moreover, it is affordable even though the manufacturing process is strict and difficult.

What is Marble?

Marble is made of calcite, also called calcium carbonate, (CaCO₃ in chemical formula). Natural Marble is a rock resulting from metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks, most commonly limestone or dolomite rock. The natural marble is unique and easy to manufacture as it is softer than faux marble. Its color and pattern are autologous and they cannot be customized. However, compared with the manufactured stone, some marble stone exists naturally fissure.

The natural marble contains radioactivity as other building materials, while the amount depends on the type and it is very low. If you worry about the harm of the radiation, keep your house ventilating.

FAQ:

1. Is sintered stone the same as faux marble?

No, sintered stone and faux marble are actually not the same. Sintered stone is a man-made material produced through a process involving natural minerals like quartz, while faux marble is an imitation of natural marble created using materials like polymers and resins. Sintered stone has its unique properties and durability, while faux marble seeks to replicate the appearance of natural marble without using the same materials.

2. Will sintered stone turn yellow?

Sintered stone is generally resistant to yellowing, as it is engineered to withstand environmental factors. Its composition, often including minerals like quartz, helps prevent discoloration. However, external factors like exposure to excessive UV light or certain chemicals could potentially impact its color over an extended period. Proper care and maintenance can help preserve the appearance of sintered stone surfaces.

Which kind of dining table is your favorite? No matter the sintered stone tabletop or marble tabletop you’d like to select, those dining tables are right for modern and luxury home style. Some of them are featured with elegant pedestal, which will add your dining room classy and fashionable vibe.
